Most Powerful Mom in Finance and the chair of the Federal Deposit Insurance Company (FDIC), Sheila Bair,  is leaving her role as one of the top women in the federal government. At times she was credited with being the voice of reason during the meltdown in the banking crisis, and at other times, for going to far.

Bair was appointed by Pres. George Bush and stayed on during the Obama administration as the new Democratic team found itself facing the beginning of America's economic depression.

MTV CEO Judy McGrath Steps Down

Judy McGrath, Chairman and CEO of MTV Networks, resigned from her post May 5th. McGrath has been at the helm of MTV since 2004. She said in a statement released by MTV's parent company Viacom, "I leave with pride, joy and gratitude for the ride of a lifetime." McGrath, a working mother, had a reputation for being a champion for women rising through the ranks at MTV. She is credited with bringing MTV back from extinction with programs like 16 and Pregnant and the Jersey Shore.

I couldn't have timed it better. Writing a review of my Good Enough Is the New Perfect on the day of the royal wedding, and share how being one of the moms in this book has changed my life. I was in my last year of medical school when I visited Buckingham Palace. It was a very hot day. The soldiers were amazing, The Queen's Guard, standing there with those red uniforms and black hats. Perfect. An elderly woman was standing besides me.

Have there even been periods in your lifge when you have felt that you are just plain stuck? You may feel as if you can't get your motor running and it's easier just too let life happen. In you mind you thin about the many things you could or should be doing. But you just don't have the energy to do so. During these time you may even feel as if one just runs into the next without any effort on you part. You may also feel like your living life just going through the motion.

Just Start!!

There are things I learned over the years I wish I had appreciated earlier. One of those is to “just start.” It sounds deceptively simple. But it is hard. I am generally a perfectionist and want to do it well. I wait for the right moment or enough time – both are generally concepts rather than reality in my life. Motherhood provided a good example the power of just starting. As I blogged about previously, I did try to wait for "the right time" there too.
