So far my journey to the other side of the world is a total of 56 hours and still counting. While my 2 little boys are settling into their Saturday night slumber, I am sitting in a huge open patio type bar at 0830 on a Sunday morning. There are military men (and a few women) walking all around since this is a transient base hoping to leave in the next few days.  A cluster of guys are drinking beer (you can have maximum of 2 within a 20 hour timeframe) others are jogging, playing pool or horseshoes, socializing or trying to hook up to wifi.

On the Hunt

I have a friend who’s worked for the same company for more than 20 years. He always tells me that the day he needs to find a new job, he’s coming to me first for advice. Why? because in that same time period, I’ve had ten different employers!

The Ebb and Flow of Life

Posted on September 11, 2011

If you are anything like me, you are constantly running around – getting the kids ready for school, rushing off to work, coming home in just enough time to get kids fed (I’m pretty fortunate that my husband usually picks up the kids from daycare and cooks), help them with homework, get them in the shower, and finally in bed! That’s not even counting sport activities, school events, and other time-consuming activities!

BeadforLife

Change begins as a seed of an idea. In the case of humanitarian and entrepreneur Devin Hibbard, it was a Ugandan bead. Walking through the streets of the capital city of Kampala, Hibbard came upon a woman rolling strips of paper into beads. She bought some beads and realized that every time she wore them, she would receive compliments. “Women liked the beads, but they loved the story of that woman trying to make a better life for herself and her family,” says Hibbard. “They wanted to buy beads to help support her and the other Ugandan women.”

One of our Most Powerful Moms in Finance and Banking, and often referred to as the most powerful woman on Wall Street, Sallie Krawcheck stepped down from her position running Bank of America's two wealth management units on September 6th -- a position she held since 2009. The company announced that her position was eliminated due to company streamlining. While Krawcheck was not fired, insiders speculate that she stepped down rather than accept a demotion.
