The best decision

Posted on February 22, 2010

So now, that they are ALL grown up (...merely! With my eldest turning 7, middle one 4 and youngest 3 and starting pre-school this year) I'm excited about going back to work! Having 3 kids in four years with two of them being almost twins, was quite an adventure.

Of course I had my ups and downs, feeling tied down many times and tempted to arrange daycare and go back to work. But in the end, I decided to stay home with my babies. My wonderful husband was there for me every step of the way. My parents moved in with me for a year and it was a HUGE help! Amidst of all this love and care, I often found myself crying at night while breastfeeding the baby. It made me feel worse when I looked at the other women around me who were working while taking care of their kids at the same time. I felt terrible that why can't I do it while they can! It went on until my youngest one was about six months when I turned all my thoughts around. I realized that everyone's different. I can't do it because I won't be able to focus on work being apart from my kids for too long. Nothing wrong in staying home and nothing wrong in going out to work while making sure your kids are being taken care of. I surrounded myself with positive energy. I stopped thinking about work and studies and turned all my focus on spending quality time with my kids. My daily schedule has been packed with picking, dropping off and taking kids to their respective activities and appointments. I truly enjoy every moment of it as I let myself go with the flow. I didn't even realize how fast these three years have passed by. Now they are ready to go to school and I’m ready to go back to work. You just have to remember that, working mother or stay at home mom, the biggest achievement in life is achieving peace of mind with whatever you choose to do.

You're a mom. You love, and are loved in return!
