Hewitt Associates’ day-care discounts saved employees more than $83,000 last year.
During the extraordinarily busy time that surrounds the arrival of a new child, parents at this human resources outsourcing and consulting firm now have a little more breathing room. In 2009, the firm granted its new fathers and adoptive parents one fully paid week off and upgraded maternity leave to seven fully paid weeks from six. To complement its existing child-care discounts, available nationwide, the firm also began offering 10 days of backup care annually for $10 per day. Employees with teens appreciate its new college-coaching program, and those with older relatives are thankful for the introduction of three free hours of elder-care management. Clinics providing routine health care, screenings and immunizations opened at headquarters and The Woodlands, TX; another two are under way in Orlando, FL, and Charlotte, NC. A new learning and development website, Hewitt University, makes advancement easier.
