Discovery Communications
What parent wouldn’t love some “work life balance days”? At this media company, employees take three (with pay) every year, using them to hang out with their kids, complete errands, attend classes and participate in other activities. If they want to volunteer, there’s a day for that, too, during which company offices shut down so people can work in their communities. To support its members’ goals, the company’s Women’s Leadership Network just expanded its life and professional coaching opportunities and added extra career talks and workshops with industry experts. Free nutritional counseling and exercise classes keep moms fit, as does the company’s fourth on-site wellness center, now open in Sterling, VA. a new four-month health and fitness program is helping parents get in shape across the globe.
