Being a busy mom and maintaining a successful career can be a balancing act, but Cindy Berg, assurance director in the Davenport, Iowa, office, has mastered this skill well. Cindy is the mother of two children, Kirsten and Tanner, and is a devoted wife to her husband, Matt. Through the use of a flexible work option, Cindy has been very successful in meeting the needs of her family outside of work while still meeting the regular demands of her job.

Cindy is heavily involved with the firm’s higher education practice. She authored the firm’s Student Financial Aid Audit Tools and teaches technical courses related to them. She recently co-instructed a benchmarking session for the Central Association of College and University Business and has spoken at not-for-profit conferences.

Cindy is extremely active from a business development standpoint, particularly in the area of higher-education, seeking out and winning new clients on her own. She is also in the process of taking the lead on a new higher-education product for the firm, MarketPrism. Within the Davenport office, Cindy serves as a role model for our employees. She was named as a 2010 Quad Cities Leader Under 40 for her professional accomplishments and community contributions. She is active in our office recruiting efforts and also serves as a career advisor.

Outside of work Cindy finds time to give back. She is a board member for the Development Association of Rock Island; is active with the Buffalo Elementary PTA, where she serves as the 2012-13 vice president; is her son’s Cub Scout den leader; and volunteers at her local church.

Overall, Cindy has made a significant contribution to McGladrey, her family and the community. She is a constant example of how to make it work in your career and at home.
