What We Love

Christine—a busy mom of two kids under age four—is a great role model for working parents at the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics. She consistently goes the extra mile to ensure that her work and that of her staff meet the high standards she’s set.

Christine is an advocate for growth and development. She participates in continuing education classes and openly encourages staff to do the same, letting them know about upcoming onsite classes and local college/technical courses and encouraging them to enroll. A number of Christine’s staffers are graduates of the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics School at Work program.

Christine also inspires others by staying fit. She takes the time to work out at the on-site fitness center during her lunch break and encourages staff to join her in classes ranging from Zumba to Pump it Up! Christine admits, “With two young children, it’s sometimes hard to find those last few minutes in the day, so being able to find them while at work makes me feel centered.”As a manager she strives to give her staff the same flexibility and balance she is afforded. Many of Christine’s staffers work from home, but she strives to ensure her team still has a sense of camaraderie; she schedules monthly in-person meetings and organizes events outside of work where everyone gets to know each other and their families. These have included a Habitat for Humanity project, bowling event, summer BBQ and even a trip to see Blue Man Group at the local theater.
