Every new manager, director and vice president at this health care system takes part in its Great Start program, which shows them how to create a positive, motivating environment in which both they and their teams can excel. In order to provide 600 of its most talented leaders with the right kind of development opportunities, management recently interviewed them about their career needs, then offered them mentoring, coaching, workshops or classes to accelerate their growth. Impressively, women already represent 40% of all corporate executives with profit-and-loss responsibility here and comprise 62% of senior managers. They also make up 82% of the system’s top earners.
