What We Love

As BDO USA’s general counsel and most senior woman, Barbara A. Taylor has a lot on her  shoulders, playing one of the firm’s most important roles. In addition to this tremendous  responsibility, she has dedicated herself to creating an environment committed to  supporting and fostering the personal and career growth of all BDO professionals.

Under Barbara’s leadership, the firm created two of its most important strategies for  personal and professional development: the BDO Women’s Initiative and BDO Flex. Barbara’s unwavering support and steadfast efforts on these strategies have helped the firm create  opportunities for mentoring, coaching, career development, and managing work and life  that extend beyond her direct reach.

While Barbara’s impact on BDO is clear, perhaps the greatest testament to her success can be found in the words of those who know her personally.

“Barbara leads one of the most complex and critical areas of our business with an unflappable and focused style, yet works tirelessly to support the firm’s women,” says Office Business Line Leader Cathy Moy. “She not only lives and leads by example, her efforts to create a flexible work environment and ensure opportunities for individual career experiences have helped both women and men grow and advance.

Adds Cathy, “Barbara is also generous with compliments, sharing credit, and celebrating individual and team successes. I have sought her counsel in my own professional challenges and have found her assistance as a peer mentor to be instructive and enabling.”

Barbara has had a meaningful and lasting impact on BDO, not only as a visionary mentor, but as a superior role model who truly cares about the firm’s people and works  diligently to support BDO’s success.
