AXA Equitable
Multicultural women occupy major roles at this financial services company: standouts include Chief Procurement Officer Nelida Garcia (who is Hispanic) and Associate General Counsel Patricia Louie (who is Asian American). Aspiring female leaders can participate in the Women’s Bond Club (WBC), an external organization that supports their advancement in the industry; company recruiting director Cynthia Bodison (who is African American) was recently named a WBC “Rising Star,” earning her a year of mentoring, executive coaching and development activities. Helping successive groups of women reach proximate heights is important to the company’s Diversity and Inclusion Advisory Council, which brings 15 managers and executives together from across all lines of business and corporate locations. To better understand obstacles faced by multicultural employees, Chairman and CEO Mark Pearson and his executive management team attend courses that examine unconscious bias at work.
