I have to sigh and agree with lcorvino and Aspen1. My current company has great working mother arrangements on paper - but in reality, it can be very hard to get them and there isn't any protection if you happen to get one of the managers who doesn't like flexibility, or mothers, or both. My previous company was much smaller, and I had all the flexibility I could possibly want. And a nice manager. I'd also like to know how this list is compiled. If it is based on policy alone, then it's very skewed especially if European companies with better benefits (hello Netherlands and Germany) are included. This is my fifth Fortune 500 company in my career and it's hands down the worst....but there it is, right there on the list.

I completely understand your venting! i feel the same way, all the time. Never having enough time for anything or anyone 100% of the time. I use to consider myself such a well put together adult. I don't feel like that any more. I always have eye circles, tired, a pony tail, and at some point of my day I realize i forgot to do something....it's frustrating. I would like to know where your information comes from when companies are saying that they flex hours to accommodate working moms? Are there surveys? or is there someone you talk to? I work at one of these companies, they used to flex hours but it stopped. The company told me that across the board that everyone had to do a 40 hour week. One of the reasons I stayed so long at a financial company, is that I was able to flex my hours. Its nice to be able to spend time with your kids after work and to make dinner together. I know we can't have it all, but it nice to be able to come close. Its sad that knowing that I need a paycheck to help support my family that I have to be out of the house for 10 hours a day. I'm sorry I'm just venting. It just angers me that a company that wins awards for flexing hours for working moms suddenly stops. Thanks for listening(reading).
