Google veteran and working mother Margo Georgiadis was just scooped up by deal-a-day company Groupon, Inc. to take on the COO post.
Groupon CEO Andrew Mason said in a statement, "Margo is a strong leader with a passion for helping small business owners and consumers. We're thrilled to have her."
With Groupon expecting to go public later this year, many analysts are comparing this hire to Facebook's Mark Zuckerberg's hire of another Google veteran, Sheryl Sandberg, who was brought into monetize Facebook as their COO in 2008. It also should be noted that Sandberg is also a working mom.
Georgiadis' new post at Groupon makes her yet another in a string of women to ascend to the top of an increasingly important tech company. She is certainly one to watch.
