Working Mother is a unique magazine. Alongside helpful features like “10 Secrets to Being Happy”, easy family recipes and time-saving beauty tips, we offer articles and profiles originating from our extensive research arm—the Working Mother Research Institute (WMRI). To meet the needs of your multifaceted lives, we perform on multiple levels—from beauty advisor to parent advocate to data analyst. In this issue, we highlight our groundbreaking work on the Best Companies for Hourly Workers.
WMRI has published on flex cultures, multicultural women, employee resource groups and the developments in wellness at work. Last year we wrote about our national study What Moms Think and this year we’re deep into research on What Moms Choose. The results of these surveys influence the country’s thinking about women, companies’ policies and the national debate. WMRI is led by Jennifer Owens (pictured), who performs a working-parent juggling act with husband Brett, a production artist, as they raise Gwendolyn, 7, and Owen, 4.
We pull no punches where our research is concerned. Companies submit huge amounts of data to be measured as potential Best Companies winners, which pass a rigorous comparison on up to 600 questions. The data is queen and dictates our lists’ results.
My Mother’s Day message to all those companies that submit their
data and heed the results: Thanks for all you do for moms!
