Gadgets
Smart phones are great for lots of things—calling, organizing, taking pictures, or even video. But if you’re a true music lover or cinephile, an all-in-one gadget probably isn’t cutting it. Enter the Zune HD (from $220, zunestore.net). The widescreen display gives you a premium viewing experience on the go and the built-in HD radio receiver allows you to listen to music whenever—regardless of your storage space. To further mold your content to your liking, download the Zune software that’ll make recommendations based upon what you’ve been listening to and watching on a regular basis.

Be sleek and safe with the BlackBerry Visor Mount Speakerphone ($100, shopblackberry.com). This hands-free device makes it easy to stay connected to family, friends and co-workers and keep your eyes where they belong—on the road, not the keypad. All you have to do is touch one button to make a call or use the voice-activated feature. Incoming calls are also made easy thanks to a verbal caller ID. Added bonus: stream your favorite music from your smart phone directly through your car’s FM Stereo or through the visor-mounted speaker.

Beauty
Bright, bold shades aren’t in hibernation this season. Shimmery, ice-queen eyes is a hot look that pairs beautifully with winter’s paler skin tones. Play around with a bunch of bright colors, says celebrity makeup artist Julie Hewett. “The best way to experiment is to accent your look with one bright hue.” A pop of bright red on your lips, for instance, should be played down with neutral shades on your lids. She also suggests color mascara or a swipe of cream or powder around the eyes. Try her new Malachite Hue Cream Shadow (from $14, juliehewett.net) and experiment until you look like a pro. If you’re feeling a little too pale get out a bronzer to give your skin a warm faux glow. Be warned that there’s a difference between matte and shimmer bronzers. Those with a matte finish, like JHLA Ora Sun, sculpt, define and warm the skin tone, says Hewett who recommends swiping bronzer under the chin and across closed eyes to chisel and refine your bone structure. A shimmer bronzer like JHLA Aphrodite is best used to highlight and add sizzle to your foundation.

Health
You definitely over did it on the cookies and eggnog during the holidays and now you’re just too horrified to step on the scale. Don’t let that stop you from keeping your 2010 resolution to drop those extra pounds. A new innovation called the Quantum Scale ($59, quantumscale.com) promises to be a dieter’s best friend, because it secretly records your weight into it’s memory—but never shows you the number. All you see when you step on the scale is how many pounds you gained or lost since your last weigh in. So now you can focus on what’s most important: developing a healthy lifestyle. Plus, it comes in blue, pink, green, black or orange to compliment your décor. Finally, there’s a systematic way to lose weight without piling on extra stress.

Fashion
This season’s biggest trend is good news for those of us who are waiting for the recession to lift before we add anything new to our wardrobe. Mixing and matching is huge this season, says Nancy LeWinter of onestopplus.com. All you have to do is find innovative and flattering ways to pair various pieces to keep last year’s staples looking new. “Start with five pieces—a skirt, pants, a shirt, a cardigan and a jacket—all in coordinating colors. Then keep things interesting by switching things up a bit. If the skirt is a soft floral, the shirt should have a ‘pop’ of color,” says LeWinter. “This is an easy way to create 10 looks from five pieces.” And it’s an even easier way to pay down those credit cards.?

Hair

Whipping winds, static cling, frigid temps and overheated homes… your hair feels like it’s battling a winter war. The number-one fix? Replenishing moisture, says celebrity hair stylist Luke O’Connor. He uses Suave Professionals Damage Care Shampoo and Conditioner on clients with severely damaged hair. “This salon-quality system contains an ultra-moisturizing formula with proteins and ceramide to help restore distressed hair so it looks and feels strong, healthy and shiny,” he says. To combat hair static that comes with hat-head, “take a fabric softener sheet and lightly run it over your finished style to help eliminate it,” adds O’Connor. As for the latest cuts and styles this season, O’Connor says big hair is, well, big. So if you normally wear your hair bone straight with very little bounce, try products from the Suave Professionals Volumizing Collection to boost volume and get a full, classic blowout style.
