Rep. Tammy Baldwin
D-Wisconsin
Staffers 18
Working-mom staffers 6
What we love In 1998, Baldwin became the first woman from Wisconsin elected to serve in the U.S. House of Representatives. Since then, she has voted for legislation that protects against pay discrimination for women and other workers. She also has supported resolutions that celebrate the roles of mothers and fathers as well as of those who care for the elderly. She has sponsored legislation that would provide up to 12 weeks of job-guaranteed leave to parents to care for their newborn, newly adopted or seriously ill child as well as a spouse or parent. A strong advocate of health-care reform, Baldwin cosponsored a resolution that would recognize the role of women as health-care consumers, caregivers and providers. Says one working-mom staff member about her: “Tammy truly is a pro-family representative. Not only are her legislative votes on the side of families, she lives her daily life in a way that supports families in her district and in her office.”
