Q: What’s your best advice for a new mom returning to work? A: Delegate, delegate, delegate. Take advantage of help, whether it's your co-workers, husband, neighbor or extended family. If you try to do everything yourself you will burn out very quickly. After my first child was born and I returned to work, my mother took care of her and subsequently my other two children. Whether it’s your family or outside care, let them help you.
Q: What’s your best tip for keeping your home life running smoothly? A: My husband and I tag team. We review our schedules weekly and decide where we need coverage. My children are given responsibilities around the house, such as setting the table, making their beds and picking up after themselves. It’s definitely a team environment.
Q: What does balance mean to you? A: Balance means that I can be good at both of my jobs (work and motherhood) and not feel like I am shortchanging one or the other.
