Women who work face family issues. And it doesn’t matter if you are a cashier at a local shop or the Vice Presidential candidate for the United States. It doesn’t matter if you are a mom of one or someone more like Kate from "Jon & Kate Plus 8." Life happens.
We have a choice in selecting our leaders, but we don’t often have the choice of being a stay-at-home mom.
Sarah Palin is an everymom. She faces challenges in her day-to-day. She probably juggles dance recitals and hockey practice pick-ups, while talking to doctors and learning all she can about her special needs child. She most likely has talks with her husband about college money, the concern of her son going to war, along with who is going to cook dinner because she may be working late. She may have shed tears upon learning that her 17-year-old was pregnant, and at first they may have been tears of worry, but they probably turned to tears of joy.
Seventeen-year-olds have sex and it doesn’t matter if their parents are democrats or republicans. You can have all the sex education in the world and teens are still going to be doing it.
We can applaud Sarah Palin’s strength whether or not we agree with her politics. We can applaud that a woman is finally on the republican ticket.
We can applaud that a working mom is working her way to the top, taking risks, and trying to better our country.
We can show our disapproval by voting for Obama/Biden, but we shouldn’t chastise Sarah Palin on her personal life.
