Unity Walk in New York City. Among the 10,000-plus walkers are more than 100 friends, family and colleagues out to support Eugenia Kaye, 44, a mother of three, and her partner, Jay Zukerkorn, 46, a photographer diagnosed with Parkinson's disease (PD) a year earlier. That day they reach their goal of raising nearly $30,000 for PD research—and today, Kaye still dedicates much of her time and energy to Parkinson's fund-raising. This April, she and Zukerkorn (left) launched www.pdhope.org, a website designed to unite PD patients, their families and friends to raise money for research. "As a community, we can make a difference," says Kaye. If one million PD patients, each joined by ten friends and family members, made a donation of $10 per person, $100 million would pour in this year, with all money going to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research. "The science is ahead of the money; we need to change that."
