Your hipbone's connected to your backbone. And your backbone's
connected to...your brain, according to a recent report in the journal
Health Psychology. Researchers reviewed 22 studies on back pain, which
included study participants who'd suffered an average of seven and a
half years, and found that mind/body treatments done alone or in
conjunction with other treatments helped reduce pain intensity. The
most effective ones were cognitive-behavioral therapy, hypnosis,
biofeedback and relaxation, all of which also helped alleviate
depression and boost participants' quality of life and their ability to
work.
