Occasional after-work cocktails with colleagues could boost your career, suggests a study in the Journal of Labor Research. The study shows that women who drink earn 14 percent more than nondrinkers, and men who drink earn 10 percent more than those who don't. "Social drinkers are networking, building relationships and adding contacts, all of which can lead to bigger paychecks," says researcher Edward Stringham, PhD.
