It seems that cocoa has the potential to lower the risk for heart disease and stroke. Researchers from the United Kingdom have discovered an ingredient in cocoa that inhibits blood platelet function, which in turn can reduce potentially fatal blood clots. Try this healthful, heart-warming treat from Hot Chocolate, by Fred Thompson ($13, www.harvardcommonpress.com). You'll need:
1. In a large bowl, combine dry ingredients. Pour into a 1-quart airtight container. Place marshmallows in a separate airtight container. 2. For a single serving, scoop 1/3 cup of mix into a mug and pour in 1 cup boiling water. Stir until chocolate-chip mixture is smooth. Sprinkle on a few marshmallows and enjoy. Makes 12 servings.
