Tip of the Hat Keep those resolutions under your hat—or on it! Roll a sheet of construction paper into a cone and anchor with tape. Let your child decorate it with glitter glue, sequins and confetti. Glue on a paper pocket into which your child can tuck her resolutions.
Memory Box This "time capsule" offers a fun look back on "the good ol' days." Help the kids decorate an old shoe box using left-over wrapping paper or acrylic paint. On New Year's Eve, they can fill it with mementos of the past year. Next year, open and reminisce.
Shake It Up Everyone will love this mess-free confetti/noisemaker combo. Even a young child can make one by filling a clear plastic cup with bits of cut-up paper, sequins, beads and pennies. Add glitter and tightly tape another cup to the first, rim to rim. Then shake!
Have a Ball Can't get to Times Square? Create your own ball by having your child save shiny bows from gifts. Poke a hole through a Styrofoam ball, thread a string through the hole and tie a knot at both ends. Then attach bows with straight pins.
