As a three-time cancer survivor, Merrill Lynch managing director and head of global diversity and inclusion Subha Barry is a shining example of how an individual facing this deadly disease can continue to lead a productive life. But Subha has remained on the front lines of the fight against cancer. She serves on the board of the Cancer Institute of New Jersey and also coaches professionals diagnosed with cancer who struggle to balance their health, life and work. She advises them to be open with others about what they're going through. "The instinct is to hide, but the more people know, the more they will support you," Subha says. She was honored this year with a Life Hero Award from the Val Skinner Foundation, a nonprofit that hosts a one-day golf event to raise funds for the Cancer Institute of New Jersey and Susan G. Komen For the Cure.
