Here's a frothy good time for all! You could cut corners and use ready-made lemonade for these floats. But you might just find that squeezing real lemons is a treat for kids of all ages, tots included.
Prep Time: 20 minutes, cook time: none, servings: 4
Ingredients
1 cup fresh lemon juice (from 7 to 8 lemons)
1/2 cup honey, or more to taste
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup warm water
3 cups chilled sparkling water or seltzer
Fruit sorbets such as lemon, lime, orange or berry
Directions
1. Let kids combine lemon juice, honey, vanilla and warm water in mixing bowl. Whisk ingredients until the honey is blended in thoroughly.
2. Let kids pour lemon juice mixture into a 2-quart pitcher, add chilled sparkling water and stir to combine. Place pitcher in refrigerator for a few minutes to keep it cool.
3. While the lemonade chills, prepare the floats. To scoop the sorbet, use a melon baller or mini ice cream scoop. Add 4 to 6 mini sorbet balls to each of 4 large goblets or tumblers. Pour lemonade mix on top. Serve with a spoon or straw.
*NOTE: Instead of sorbet, you can use up those fruit ice pops that are left over from the summer and are in danger of getting freezer burn. Just peel off the wrappers, chop them into cubes and toss them into your floats.
